take me back to hawaii, please!
I posted about Karen Walker a couple months ago and how I am utterly obsessed with her shades. I find that every single one of my favorite bloggers own a pair of her sunglasses and I am happy to announce that I have joined the “Bloggers with Karen Walkers Sunglasses Club”…I should probably come up with a new name for that, huh? I bought them before my trip to Hawaii and wore them while relaxing at the beach! Coming back to Austin, I rotate them in the cycle of all my sunglasses that I wear to class. Embrace your inner diva, I always say! Have a lovely day!
(may or may not have sent them to some of my closest friends via snapchat…HAHA!)
Oh, how I wish the Gap Kids x Kate Spade collaboration were around when I was little. My 10-year old self is jealous. The fact that everything is tiny and cute makes it that much better. I wish some of the pieces came in adult sizes…these limited edition Kate Spade pieces are fabulous.
Thinking back on my elementary school years, my mom made sure I was a stylish fashionista. Every night before I went to bed, we’d pick out my outfit for the next morning. I always went to school dressed to the nines. The rest of my friends were in shorts and tshirts…the same thing seems to happen today. (Don’t get me wrong though, it’s my go to look on a lazy day!)
Throughout school, I was always super competitive with the boys. It all started in school when my parents signed me up for every single sport and my athletic tomboy side came out. This is also when my inner diva came out, as well. At recess, the boys (and some sporty girls) would always play soccer and get super rough and dirty. Even though I knew I could’ve of schooled the boys and scored tons of goals, my 6th grade self would stay on the sideline and be the head cheerleader for the cute boys. Why? If my Gap blue jean skirt and new shirt were to get grass stains on them because of some crazy times at recess, I would not be a happy camper. Oh well! I learned to take care of my precious wardrobe at a young age… #shakemyhead
You should all know by now that I am obsessed with sunglasses of all shapes, sizes, and colors. It’s no secret. Most of the time you’ll find me wearing a pair (they really make an outfit, darlings) or at least having a couple tucked away in my backpack when walking around campus. How am I supposed to walk from class to class and silently look at people’s shoes, purses, and outfits without seeming as though I’m completely checking our their ensembles? I don’t want to be that obvious. The answer: shades people, shades. And they must be stylish and of good quality.
I’ve found that Warby Parker does just that: stylish, good quality, and…wait for it…reasonably priced! What? Yes. I know, it’s crazy. (And don’t you worry, they have eyeglasses as well but y’all, I got that 20-20 vision going on so I’ll just stick to the sunglasses!)
Sunglasses can be very expensive (trust me, my bank account feels the pain) but Warby Parker combats that. By designing glasses in-house, and engaging with customers directly, they’re able to provide higher-quality, better-looking prescription eyewear at a fraction of the price. What a concept, I know. Two claps for Warby Parker, everyone. #clapclap
I could easily buy half of the sunglasses they have. I really have to restrain myself. I mean, most of their non-prescription sunglasses are only $95! That’s nine-five y’all. Less than $100? I mean, I technically could buy three pairs of Warby Parker sunglasses for the price of one designer pair…things to think about. #hmmmm
I’m utterly obsessed with Warby’s new Corner Collection. A little more edgy than my typical preppy disposition but that doesn’t even matter. Particularly the Teddy frames…I’d like one in every color please. No seriously. Just look at them:
I can just see these glasses being terrific for cozy times and leaf-crunching rambles alike. And even when the temps rise again, they’re still good to go. Warby Parker Corner Collection for the win.
I can’t get over Taylor Swift’s latest single, Shake It Off, from her brand new album, 1989, being released later this year. The song is just so groovy and happy! Please, if you haven’t already go listen to it and watch the hilarious music video. It’s so quirky and unique and I promise that if you’re having a bad day it’ll do just the trick to make you smile. Try it and let me know…
I love the message as well. I know it’s cliché to say but somedays just really suck. School sometimes annoys me, a bad soccer practice might piss me off, or something stupid might just anger me…but y’all, honestly, we just have to shake it off! Nothing that a dance party can’t fix…am I right or am I right? My best friend, Kendall, and I were known to have the occasional dance party if we were super stressed. The said parties had tons of loud singing, obnoxious dancing, and just some general running around our apartment like crazy people. Few people were able to witness such dance parties and let’s just say, let’s keep it that way.
One last thing. Other than the song, I am O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D with her all black outfit with red lip combo T-Swifty has got going on in the middle of the video. Let’s talk about how I’ll be sporting this look allllll day errrrrry day during the coming months in fall and winter. (On a separate note, I love summer but I love love extra love me some fall and winter, more on that later.) And good news, the look is so simple to recreate for anyone who loves it like moi. Four simple pieces that make such a statement. Ugh, looking at this stuff makes me so excited for semi-colder weather to come! Let me not get ahead of myself, however. I’m currently writing this post from Hawaii enjoying all the sunshine the islands have to offer. I’m here for soccer…can’t wait to fill y’all in on everything! Off to enjoy the beach!
Shirt, Pants, Lipstick, Shoes
And hey, remember to just shake it off every once in a while. It seems to be working just fine for me and Taylor Swift!
P.S. If you are a little interested in my Hawaiian travels before I have a chance to write all about them on the brinks…catch some photos on my Instagram. You can follow me here!
Fourth of July is right around of the corner. I would ask you what your plans are…but more importantly, what are you going to wear? Whether you’re spending it on the lake, grilling out with friends, or watching fireworks (or all three!), these ten things would be perfect for any celebration. USA, USA!
1. This great dane puppy, like me, isn’t a fan of mornings. I feel ya pup, I feel ya.
2. I mean, Trader Joe’s amazes me more and more everyday.
3. Can’t stop laughing! These haunted house pictures before the scariest part of the house are priceless.
4. Ice cream sandwiches that will instantly make you happy.
5. Moms, this ones for you. Classic mom texts!
6. I need these limited edition orange Karen Walker sunnies in my life.
7. In case you missed it: my posts about my recent trips to Rome, Venice, Vienna, and Salzburg. Munich coming soon!
8. Love this dress! So cute ‘n fun.
9. The ‘Scandal’ clothing line is happening. Gladiators, rejoice.

Hey y’all! Follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Bloglovin‘ to stay up to date with the brinks!
Ask any of my friends and they’ll tell you I’m completely organized and always on top of things. I love making lists and always make sure my planner is color coordinated and up-to-date. I love doing things ahead of time and planning out my days. And I for sure don’t like doing things last minute. However, there are 2 exceptions: (1) laundry and (2) packing. Ugh.
I do laundry routinely (…don’t let it cross you mind that I ever wear dirty clothes, absolutely not….) but even worse than actually doing the laundry is putting up the laundry. For some reason, I’m just not a fan. Folding clothes, hanging them on coat hangers, arranging them in my closet. No thank you. I wait until the very last minute that I realize I need something that I cleaned to find it and simultaneously put all my other things up before running out of the door to go somewhere, do something, see someone. If I have five minutes before having to leave my apartment, you’ll see me scrambling to put everything up…makes the miserable laundry time go by quicker. Try it, I promise. And then there’s the ironing to make sure I look crisp, I don’t want to talk about it. A necessary evil I tell you.
The other think I hate to do: pack. Oh my gosh, I am notorious for overpacking. I wait until the night before to pack for any vacation, no matter what. I would take my whole closet with me on vacation if I could. Choosing what and what not to take is so hard for me. I have to think about where I’m going, what I’ll be doing, if it will look good in pictures. And then the shoes…I mean, don’t get me started, how can a girl chose? So many decisions. It takes a lot of clothes, shoes, and accessories to stay fabulous. Oy vey.
The reason I tell you this is because this Friday I’m going to Europe. And I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been asked by friends and family, “Oh! Have you started packing yet?” The answer is no, everyone. And then they look at me as though I’m crazy for waiting until the last minute. My response to them…you’re the crazy one! Ha, take that.
Well, until Thursday night, my suitcase will lie empty and happy…just the way I like it. xx.
Wedges scream summer. And considering it’s officially summer here in Texas (the temperatures are slowly but surely getting higher and higher…hello sunscreen!), wedges are one of my go to summer shoes for a sassy night out on the town! Say goodbye to uncomfortable winter and spring heels, go get yourself a pedicure, and flaunt some new summer sandals! Here are some that I’ve had my eye on lately:
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7
One of the best things about the wedges above is that most of them come in a variety of colors, go check them all out! I’m sure there’s one just crying out your name…I know for sure that all of those above seem to be screaming “Brinkleyyyyy, try me onnnnn.” Shoes just seem to speak to me.
I’m currently on season five of Mad Men on Netflix and one of the main reasons I love the show is because of the fashion, duh. And my favorite character on the show? Miss Sally Draper…aka Kiernan Shipka.
I mean, let’s first talk about her Instagram. Bascially, 80% of the photos she posts are of delicious-looking, mouth-watering, get-in-my-belly food, coffee, and sweets. Girl after my own heart. Basically, her insta game is on point.
The other 20% of her posts are of her and her beautiful friends styled perfectly for parties or for lunch dates in LA or wherever else she may be.
Her style is perfection, on the show and in real life. And did I mention she is only 14 years old? Hold on, wait a minute. What? She looks as though she’s my age…
Fourteen years old. That’s one-four. She’s fabulous.
